Something's gotta give

Teruk ni. Cant rely on weekends just to break a sweat. But then, how?

Kim got 22nd for Triathlon in Commonwealth Games. Ok la. First try. Plus, She was racing with top names like Emma Snowsill and that Luxford.

#######

Supposed to get some ice cream yesterday, but that someone had something going on so, no ice cream. Instead, F n F dropped by. Went out for lunch at spender, then proceed with movie at Midvalley. Huh, dekat sangat. T'was V for Vendetta. If you like the arts of the Wachowski bros. then you'll like this one coz its their work together (again) with Joel Silver. The story? Its about people power. No government is powerful without its people.

People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.

Topple the government? Unless its a totalitarian one, then we shouldn't. But the movie also highlights the age-old issue of the role of media in the government. They dont fabricate stories. They just tell the mass what they are being told : the lies from politicians. Sounds very familiar, eh?

Zainuddin Maidin had lambasted the 'pop journalism' culture which emphasized on sensational, sensitivities and globalisation issues. Come on la, thats a pile of crap. Unless he reads Bacaria or Warta Perdana.

OK, tell me if this is something sensational or politically challenging: A couple were suspicious of having sex in a government office after work. Her panties was left behind on the meeting room chair.
ps: I know this happened.

Imagine the impact if one were to publish this story. That particular department is going to get hell from the PM and the opposition party. But sex sells, dont they? Baca lagi!

Tired

Tired. Legs are tired from too much walking.
Tummy is tired from too much eating.
I bet my eyes are getting sharper everyday from squinting too much to see 'some details somewhere.'
So I decided to start half of my day today at home.
Mind you, 3 minutes after I'm off my bed, I'm already sitting in front of the pc. And it was 10 am.

No time for slackers. Bob Woodward was only 9 month in the job with Washington Post when he unearthed the Watergate scandal with Carl Bernstein. He was still wearing neckties at that time.
As for me, I will do it from anywhere, anytime.
Gotta make some calls. Baca lagi!

Buskers entertaining people coming from LRT station to KLCC. Hardly people realise that somebody is playing music in the tunnel. They look away as if their money will be robbed by these guys...

If these walls could talk... surely there'll be lots of stories to tell. These walls belongs to Pudu Prison which was closed in October 1996. Now, it awaits to be turned into a commercial area. Another predator of the consumers.

Pablo Neruda

Where did I hear his name, this Pablo Neruda? Ah yes, in the movie Il Postino. It was a lovely movie, not the mainstream kind though. I faintly remember the story. Its about a boy who the only job he knows is fishsing, but he doesnt want to. So he became a mailman. He eventually got to know Neruda who's visiting there and he learnt from him. Then theres some love story between the boy and a girl. And so on.

Hmm..bila nak tengok citer best lagi ni? Lets check what's playing in cinemas now...aiyoh, Garasi and Main-main Cinta je? Citer omputeh tak payah cakapla. Tapi citer Melayu berkualiti takde ke bulan ni? Setakat nak tengok Misha Omar kat silverscreen tak payah, hari-hari boleh tengok. Bukan yang real la tapi kembar seiras. You know who you are. Hahah..

Ayang's housewarming party was great. She had some tahlil and all (which I missed) prior the bbq and a great round of Pictionary. Best gilak! I teamed up with ayang coz my gewe kontrak wasnt around (pity her, she was feeling sick) and we won! Aku jadi tukang teka most of the time and ayang was a great drawer. Tak la cun pun, but descriptive. Thats the key to the game. Sabb, bila nak main lagi?? Lupa nak amik gambar how ayang drew 'The Silence of The Lambs'. Klakar giler. These digits dont lie

...and so does the sunburn on my arms. The incredible me went almost 99km up bukit Ampang-Hulu Langat right until Semenyih Dam and back. Actually I overshot the rendevous point by some 2-3km. Terlajak bai!

Ok let me remember how painful the ordeal was...

Azwar, Ajeep bon-bon and I started at Ampang Point around 8 am. Few minutes later, found myself climbing the painful bukit Ampang-Hulu Langat. As always, I'm left behind la. What do you expect, basikal besi maaa! Approximately 1 km into the climb, aku sudah koyak. Stopped for a while for some nyawa. Then continued for another km or so. And then Azwar backtracked. Continued uphill right until habis climb section. At that time, meter baru nak masuk 10km. Gila tak?

Sampai Hulu Langat bt 14, Toing joined us. The terrain was undulating with few 'good' climbs right until bt 18. Then came the majestic view of Semenyih Dam.

With the view, came a series of long gradual climb. Azwar was kind enough to backtrack almost 10 times during the course for me. Besarrr hati Azwar. Dah, puji sesikit cukup. Kembang bontot plak.

Lepas Semenyih Dam, aku ternampak satu rest/recreational area penuh ngan bas sekolah and all. But I didnt see any of the guys. Aku pun kayuh la selow selow. Sekali dah masuk hutan getah mana ntah. Sekali tgk belakang, Azwar dok panggil aku. Hah! Terlajak! Nasib baik tak sampai Johor. At that time , cramps was setting in my quads. Giler sakit like I've never felt before.

After recovering with nasik lemak, we set off back. I said to myself, "I'm gonna just finish this". The meter was 45-ish km at that time. So kayuh lah aku dengan selow and steady nyer untuk mengelakkan cramps. Because kalau cramp teruk, dah takleh kayuh. Kalau takleh kayuh, tak boleh balik la. Then how now brown cow?

All the way back to bt 14 was ok but the cramps are creeping in slowly whenever theres a climb. Even the slightest climb pun dah terasa. Babi betul la. Inilah padah tak mengamalkan latihan berterusan. Then we stopped for air tebu and ayaq nyok.

After air tebu, continued back our journey. To my surprise, another gilababi cramp attacked. Tersadai aku dekat bus stand tepi jalan tu. Urut-urut. Stretch sikit. Rasa dah ok sikit, aku sambung. Makcik dua orang yang tunggu bas tu dok tengok je aku.

Sampai kat masjid bt 14 tu, diorang dah tunggu. Aku cakap, rasa cam takleh panjat je nih. But Ajeep n Azwar kept encouraging me. So, jalan je la.

Baru lima minit panjat, cramp giler. Berhenti. Aku amik keputusan, tolak basikal. Dalam kepala hotak aku, aku nak je tahan lori and tumpang sampai Ampang. Tapi aku pikir, tak Ironman la camni. Hahahah! So menolak basikal la aku sejauh 2-3km. Sampailah Azwar backtrack. Tukar basikal dengan dia. Cuba kayuh gak. Tak sampai seminit, cramp balikkkk. Cilakak. So aku pun tolak la basikal dia tu. So adds up, aku tolak basikal dalam 5 km ada kut.

Dah lepas bukit tu, time turun baru boleh aku ride balik. Dush! Tergolek. To add salt to injury, kena pulak cramp on the spot. Aduh saliha.

Sampai Ampang Point pukul 3-ish. Badan dah hitam. Dalam kepala nak makan nasi ayam and then dip into an ice bath. Malam plak ada gathering kat rumah Ayang+Ubie. Pergh... Baca lagi!

Sucking up some sambal belacan

Funny how some people hate those who would do them good. As though its so repulsive. They loathe the faintest idea that this person would do them good.

Remember your most hated teacher back at school? I remember my ustaz at school. He was like - oh my GOD - so mean that he carries rotan 80% of the time I saw him. And of course I got whacked once in a while lah. But because of him, I think, Im a bit better in mengaji.

Some quarters might say its like a father teaching his children lah. Straight as a ruler, but deep down inside, its love. But that's children. What happens when we deal with intelligent, grown-up people? Well, I would say that there could be repercussion. Even at school we could always scratch the side of the teacher's car so ugly, that the teacher had to change cars with his/her wife.

But then again, they want us to do good. Maybe, just maybe we think or feel that his/her ways are not suitable to our sissy ass. But the objective remains the same. They want us to do good. Just like sambal belacan, its hot but its its good. So suck it up. Baca lagi!

Akal pendek

Its amazing how full of hasad dengki some Melayu can be. Without knowing anything about another person, they can easily say, or assign bad labels to other people. The hell, like they own this world! Even our DPM, Najib also said that Melayu masih banyak sikap hasad dengki. No wonder we Melayu cannot compete with them Chinese in business. Orang Melayu kalau nampak Melayu lain maju sikit, dah nak sabotaj. Bagi jampi, santau la, basically all dengki stuffs. How on earth we can maju?

I'm not saying I'm the anti-Melayu now, but this is reality. Melayu will never go anywhere with hasad dengki. Why cant we have 'I scratch your back, and you scratch mine' mentality? You cannot be the uber businessman without help from others. You cannot wear the yellow jersey without the help of your team mates. You cannot be the damn best worker in the office with hasad dengki as your arsenal.

To those with hasad dengki, PISS OFF YOU PRICK!

Klakar bangang

Some funny stuff picked up from Tri-Geek Dreams (I hope you dont mind, Kahuna!).

You might be a single triathlete if you are:

  1. You have ever decided to give up dating for a month or more to save money for more race registrations. ==>wow, I think I might do this in the future!
  2. You've explained the differences between road bike geometry and tri bike geometry on the first date. ==>for sure you will bore her to death.
  3. You've worn bike shorts to work under your dress clothes because you were out of clean undies (and you didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable). ==>Azwar has worn his running shoes to work before, can it count?
  4. You've considered making a donation at a sperm or egg bank in order to get closer to your ideal race weight (and you would use the money to buy more Powergel packets). ==>if only we have sperm banks here, ada ke?
  5. The "3rd date" means it is time for the other person to show their commitment to you by signing up for a sprint.==>if only I can find awek triathlete!!.
****@@@****

On another note, we are having a mini duathlon this coming 26th @ Putrajaya. Just a bunch of guys/gals who frequents pipot.com la. tu je. And there will be some pot luck breakfast afterwards. Sounds like fun. I hope I can make it. Ye la I am the one who proposed the bike route! Come to think of it, this group activity sounds pretty much fun. Giving the finger to the big bad green lorry

I felt like I was in a high speed chase. But the only thing is, a lorry was chasing me. I mean a big ass 24-wheeler. Why? Coz I gave him the finger.

It all happened when I was cruising in the middle lane along KESAS to a friend's house. I saw the lorry cruising at the left lane (it was a 3-lane hiway). Then suddenly, without any indications, that sonofabitch suddenly moved into my lane; just missing me by few inches that I had to slow down. Bodoh. Bagi la signal dulu.

I dengan angry nya overtook him. Gave him a honk. He honk me back. Kimak. I opened my window, and behold, the finger! *shiny, sparkling effect*

I exited at Puchong, heading towards my destination. To my surprise, he followed me! Bastardo. I quickly turned into a housing estate. He slowed down at the junction, waiting to see where I'm going. Huh, apa lagi, pusing-pusing dalam housing tu la! Until I found another exit from the taman. Phew, I lost him.

Well lepas ni, I'm gonna have a concealed weapon under my seat. Kalau nak mati pun, at least biar ada fight. But the crux of the matter, bagi la signal sebelum tukar lane. Abih kalo gaduh, nko yang mati instead aku, camna? Tak ke rugi....

#@#@#@#@#@#

This morning aku pegi Putrajaya for a ride on my newly setup bike. Phewng!! A bit late la, around 9am. But it was overcast all along my 1:45:xx ride(I was hoping to get some tan!). The route? A new route for Pipothlon this coming March. It was easy, with only 1 big hill to climb. The rest was fairly flat. Distance was about 37km. I just went there for an easy ride. Since my right knee was hurting from Tuesday's run, so how to tekan? About my knee, I think its a case of too much too soon. Tu la, nak sangat lari jauh-jauh. Beware, after a lay-off, you have to re-train your sendi-sendi to endure the pounding. I hope its nothing serious. Baca lagi!

Wahlau!

OK. My 'iron' bike aka basikal kicap has been given a new breath of life. Well, its actually me that's gonna have few more breath after riding it. As I said before, new wheelset, new groupset and even a new bar tape!

The thing is, I almost got myself an Ultegra FD for me kicap. But luckily the tauke didnt have any that support triple chainring. Nasib baik. Kalau tak, ada jugak esteemed brand kat bike aku. Neway, Ultegra tu pun model 2004 kut. Nampak lama semacam jek. Well I sorta have to change another FD coz the one Ajeep ( yo I still owe you 50!) gave me, the clamp was bigger than my seat tube. So... I put another Shimano kokak one la...

Back to breathing issue. I got a gut feeling that my bike setup is waaaay lighter than the old one. How light? I dunno la. Never timbang it before and no plans to do it now. Suffice it to say 'ada perbezaan'. No Samy Vellu stuff here ah. I mean, I grab a hold of the old crankset and it was berat macam besi. Memang besi pun! And the new one is like aluminium. Sendiri kira la.

Enough said la. Apart from changing a new seatpost and saddle to prevent me from being sterile at a young age (ehem, oh, it moves), my training bike is complete. Lepas ni, simpan duit beli Cannondale yea!

Oh, and on another note, dont buy anything Danish. Thank you. Baca lagi!

Fakta menarik

I found this somewhere in the net while searching what the hell is Cro-Moly.

"Specifically, 4130 steel - an alloy steel - which is commonly known in the bike industry as chrome-moly, contains the following alloying agents: 0.28- to 0.33-percent carbon, 0.4- to" 0.6-percent manganese, 0.8- to 1.1-percent cromium, 0.15- to 0.25-percent molybdenum, 0.04-percent phosphorous, 0.04-percent sulfur, and 0.2- to 0.35-percent silicon. The other 95-plus percent is made up of good old-fashioned iron. Now, there are hundreds of kinds of steel, but 4130 finds its way into bike frames because, among other attributes, of its weldability, formability, strength, ductility and toughness. (Many low-buck frames are made with 1020 steel, which is called plain carbon steel, and has significantly lower strength than the chromium-molybdenum steels.)"

Now that what my bike is made of. Just slightly better than basikal 7-up kampung tu. Hahah!
Neway, basikal aku belum siap tranfer enjin lagi. Should be ready by tomorrow. Baca lagi!

Why ?

Why? Why do people who train hard day and night, exert themselves during a gruelling race, be hard done by something like brain tumor? Something like Lou Gehrig? Something like cystic fibrosis? Something like, dead sick?

Why all of that hard work wasted because of some illness?

Maybe its God’s way telling human that nobody is invincible.

I dunno. It just seem unfair to me.

I know of a person who was diagnosed with brain tumor. He said he hadnt much time left. Thing is, I raced with him once. Maybe more. But I vividly remember him during PD Tri. I was at the back of the pack during the swim. Then, he came from behind to me and asked if I’m ok. "Are you ok, Fitri?." I was struggling to float at that time. I said, “Don’t worry, I’m ok”. He swam on. I never caught him on the bike. Then, 2km into the run, I caught up with him.

You see, he is the kind that enjoys the active life. Trekking, running, tri and many more that I maybe not aware of. Read up his blog and you’ll see.

Funny guy la. Once I saw him race at the Poweman last year, he was selamber slowing his pace just to be running behind this one hot chic when he can easily overtook her.

Anyway, I hope you got your wish of doing an Ironman someday soon. I’ll try to wait for you at the finish line, Terence. Baca lagi!

Axe rock

Killer melodies.
Dramatic intros.
Super killer solo guitar.
Multiple riffs of solo.
Ass kicking drum beats.
Music that have soul in it.

All that is rock man. Cant never get enough of it. Not just some lame ass one-tune band-ees that churn out almost the same drumbeat and riff every album (read: Offspring).

Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd (this one is psychedelic), Metallica (pre Load era), Aerosmith, Iron Maiden. Heck, even Tenacious D rocks.

We have (or had) Sweet Charity, Lefhanded, Search, Wings, Crossfire, and dozens more.

Most of the names above are history. Some of em might be even dead. But is there no continuity? No more ‘rock kangkang’ follower? No more kids jamming Taming Sari by Wings? I bet you would get a surprised look from people outside the studio if you jam to that tune. “Lagu apa tuh?”, they would say.

It might not be cool to wear hotpants or tight jeans anymore, like The Darkness. But arent any local band out there following their musical footstep? Or the mind of every kids today is filled with MTV-material music like hip-hop and nu-age? I came across a disturbing fact from a Korn video that they opted to use hip-hop artist in their music video because traditional rock music video arent getting much airwaves. I am not surprised. Turn on MTV, and you’ll see lots of booty-shaking being done.

By the way, Oasis is coming to, yes, our neighbour Singapore. Malaysia tak rock, tak payah singgah.

And to the fickle minded law enforcer, layan rock and wearing black doesn’t mean we are worshipping the devil.

I have to be careful after this. I don’t wanna be caught while listening to Black Sabbath. Baca lagi!

I'm no Superman

What is it with Johor women? Not that there's anything wrong with them, but im just curious. Especially when it comes to religion. On many accounts, I have come upon women from Johor (JB to be specific) that claim they are religously sound, yet they broke some of the simplest rule of it. Not that they killed or commit adultery, but still, defiance to the same laws that applies to everbody else. And this is just my personal observation. I am not lashing out at anybody here.

Example no. 1

Zainah Anwar, Executive Director of Sisters in Islam. At the young age of 51, this fiesty, single, women activist hails from JB. She said : “I know about Islam. I am from Johor, I went to sekolah agama when I was a girl, read Mutaal Badrin.”

How about that? Mutaal Badrin is a compulsary reading if you go to sekolah agama in JB, if Im not mistaken. I have tried reading it. Aint easy I tell you. But, count me out ‘coz im still jahil.

She went to the famous Sultan Ibrahim Girls School.

Example no.2

My sister-in-law. An esteemed architect by her standards, she too is from JB. As a mother and wife, her non-apparent traits of both has somewhat contradict to her upbringing. Heck, she even went to umrah when nobody in this household ever did. A bright star, but fades way too quickly.

She received her secondary education at Muzaffar Syah, Melaka where water could be scarce. Hence, showering probably not a routine activity. Hehe.

Example no. 3

My ex-girlfriend. She too, went to SIGS. Just like Miss Zainah. Well, im not going to talk much about her, ‘coz she might be reading this. Plus, I don’t have bad things to say ‘bout her. And, she too read Mutaal Badrin.

So what is the connection between the three of them? Maybe a lot. But I will just point one. None of them, abide the simple rule of covering up. Not their bodies. But their hair. Isnt that the simplest thing to do? If it’s the simplest thing to do, it might as well the simplest thing to not do.

But one woman stands out, and its Zainah. For crying out loud, you are the head of an organisation that fight for women rights. Muslim women rights. And yet, you are like that. Im not saying that you are on the wrong side of the river. Probably if I ask you why you don’t wear a jilbab, you might have a 1,000 answers that can render me speechless.

Liberal. Maybe that’s the word. So if liberal, than we can go out to clubs, party and all, and be back just in time for Subuh, right?

Smelly

Smell of sweat, motobike fumes and 'lok-lok' sauce, mixed together to form a distinct aroma of the New Year. The sight of huundreds of thousand people taking over the road; looking like a street mob in action, making it hard to move. Though it was raining earlier, the rain somehow 'conspired' with them organisers of concerts, rave parties, fireworks and what not to stop the rain and give way. Shuck. I was hoping the rain would get heavier, so there's no parties/concerts/fireworks so I can get on my own way. But, them organisers prevail, and KL was buzzing with activity. But most of them, endured traffic jams, and petulant smelly people just to watch the city hall waste some few thousand ringgit on foreworks, and leave. What a weird country this is. I am bereft of words to describe it. Baca lagi!

Tadi Afiq main dengan kakak, best. Afiq main mainan Afiq dengan kakak. And then, Afiq buum and then kakak *shrieking* and then kakak lumpat. Ok, goodnight.

Kids, arent they just adorable?

*Huh, wait till you get one and play with them diapers la!* Btw, I'm tired of reading about diapers oredi. Did you know that 64% of moms wake up in the middle of the night to change diapers?

Too old to party la. Imagine I can just sit there at the bar with my Shirley Temple, and oblivious to the show, watched Everton beat Toonies. But that was until three half-drunk girls sat next to me la. ngeh ngeh ngeh. But my mind was far away to concentrate on the girls. Eye candy jer. Neway, credits to Ali n Zarin for the backdoor pass. Eventho I had to split earlier, I had a good time.

Osman Jailani

Its hard not to tell, whether fate is playing with you or not. Sometimes, its a test. Other times, they just give. You might say, "Hey that fucker is a real piece of shit than I am, but why does he get all the things?". You might just say that when things arent going your way. Ah..Im just dramatising here. Bla bla bla. I might just write a grainy documentary about how life should be.

*******

It has been a while since I had that punch-drunk look on my face. I usually had that whenever I finish a run that's more than 2 hours. Missed the feeling of dry salt on my skin, instead of sheens of sweat that would have been present if I'm not a salty sweater. Yeah, I can cook a decent meal after my runs with the salt I produce. Au naturel. Haha. 4 months to go. Will I do it? Should I? Well just to be darn emotional, I wont have anybody waiting for me at the finish line. Thats kind of sad after a gruelling 42k, aint it? Maybe I'll do it once I have somebody waiting for me at the finish line.

Huh, pathetic idiot.

Well maybe I'll just do it. 'Cos nowdays, who cares? Baca lagi!

Ed Stevens

What a way to retain your title. Through a rematch. Sergio Mora vs Peter Manfredo Jr. The outcome: Mora retained his title. Well, everybody deserves a second chance. Manfredo did better with his. But not good enough. Which you might ask, is it worth it to give a second chance?

Stallone said that, "Life is about two things. Its either a fight or a race."

Pangako Sayo

Gila best. Most of the game this week, were won by three-goal scoreline. Liverpool won 3-0, Barca won 3-0 as well and ManU won 3-1. Without Keane. Siapa la yang nak ganti Keane.

Minggu ni, banyak giler junk food went thru my throat. Chocloates, McD’s, burger sepah, teh tarik, dan apa juga sampah yang boleh sumbat la. Dahsyat. Everynite I will scour the kitchen to look for something to nibble. Fortunately, I don’t gain much weight. Tak tau la tapi maybe about 500g or so je. Hey, I’m blessed with high metabolic rate. Don’t envy me coz im beautiful. Hahahah!

**********

I think my brain is getting slower. Termakan semut kot.

*********

Speaking of junk food, I've just finished watching Supersize Me, a documentary film about the effects of obesity and other health problems that McD brings. The guy, who happens to be the film maker, is on McD diet for 30 days and he must have 3 square meals everyday. From 185lbs, his weight plummets to 210lbs in 30 days! His cholesterol levels, soared up the roof. His liver, is 'pickling' like of an alcoholic. Damn. McD could do you shit. And guess what. The time he took to lose those 25lbs, is 4 months (if im not mistaken).

So those who wants to gain some weight, go and include McD in one of your meals for 10 days. You'll sure to gain weight.

Look, I have caused enough trouble. I dont need to do more.

apaapa

Its easier if you can see what future lies for you. Isnt it? Yeah, I know thats not how things goes. If that is the case then I can start buying nombor ekor. 3D? 4D? 3+1D? Gila apa orang yang beratur beli nombor ekor tu. And sadly, some of them are Malays.

Meski telah memiliki telaga
Tangan masih memegang tali
Sedang orang mencapai timba.
Berbuahlah pisang tiga kali
Melayu itu masih bermimpi
Walaupun sudah mengenal universiti
Masih berdagang di rumah sendiri.

Pendatang Burma pun boleh jadi kaya raya kat tanah kita ni! Percayalah! Orang Melayu, gemarnya kerja enteng. Main untung atas angin. Kontrak yang ada dijual ke orang lain. Jadi broker kontrak. Usahanya biar sikit. Janji untung besar. Orang yag dapat peluang, dibazirkan peluang tu. Orang yang tak dapat peluang, makin susah nak dapat peluang.

Divine intervention

I was supposed to race last Sunday. But I didnt make it to the starting line. Somehow, it might have been a 'divine intervention' from the powers that be to prevent me from racing that day. I was down with food poisoning and fever.

I heard everybody had fun. Grunge, in his first tri race as a relay team got 10th. Erin set a blistering time of 28:04 for her swim. Fuyoh. And Grunge, you not bad osso la. 54 mins. That supposed to be PR rite? Ajeep osso I heard went all the way till 7th lap. Azwar got 20th, Eugene got 3rd (bila mamat ni nak kalahkan foreigners?) and the lurvley Vic defended her title.

Well, congratulations all. Hope the regulars will comeback stronger next year and the newbies, I hope you get the bug. The tri bug.

My Stupid Mouth

My stupid mouth
Has got me in trouble
I said too much again
To a date over dinner yesterday
And I could see
She was offended
She said "well anyway..."
Just dying for a subject change

Oh, another social casualty
Score one more for me
How could I forget?
Mama said "think before speaking"
No filter in my head
Oh, what's a boy to do
I guess he better find one soon

We bit our lips
She looked out the window
Rolling tiny balls of napkin paper
I played a quick game of chess with the
salt and pepper shaker
And I could see clearly
An indelible line was drawn
Between what was good, what just
slipped out and what went wrong

Oh, the way she feels
about me has changed
Thanks for playing, try again.
How could I forget?
Mama said "think before speaking"
No filter in my head
Oh, what's a boy to do
I guess he better find one

I'm never speaking up again It only hurts me
I'd rather be a mystery
Than she desert me

Oh I'm never speaking up again
Starting now

One more thing
Why is it my fault?
So maybe I try too hard
But it's all because of this desire
I just wanna be liked, I just wanna be funny
Looks like the jokes on me
So call me captain backfire

Oh, another social casualty
Score one more for me
How could I forget?
Mama said "think before speaking"
No filter in my head
Oh, what's a boy to do
I guess he better find one

I'm never speaking up again. It only hurts me
I'd rather be a mystery
Than she desert me

Oh I'm never speaking up again
Starting now

Mintak nyawa!

Yesterday, i thougt of testing ke'poweran' of my running. You know la after a while tak lari race pace, things get rusty. Indeed. End up the whole pengunjung Tasik Titiwangsa saw me berlari macam nenek tua semalam. Dengan gaya yg lagi dasyat dari Paula Radcliff. And it was a minute slower than usual. Perghh. Sums up, status triathlon this sunday is just for FUN.

*********

Before I went running, I actually wanted to berenang. *Yan, jom berenang oi!* Tapi pool selayang tu selamba tutup tak ikut time. babi. Inilah dia public services. Korokmu! Sekali aku berak dalam pool tu baru tau! Dah camna ni tak train berenang? Nak jadi last lagik out of the water? Bukit Jalil ramai national athlete. Cheras water polo buat training. Mano den nak poei?

*****

Jalan dah start jem, kedai dah banyak bukak, orang kat kedai mamak pun dah ramai. Everything back to normal after a week long holiday. Now, mulalah acara open haus yang berderet-deret starting this weekend. Makan lagi. Tapi aku tarak kisah punya. Genetically slim. Hehehe... Kalau terasa berat sikit, pi lari laa. Tak pun pi kayuh beskal besi tu ke. Speaking of beskal, last sunday i went DOWN hulu langat trail. Went down sebab i was from kuala pilah. So aku ikut Jelebu>>Hulu Langat>>Ampang *konon nak lari dari jem*. Jalan dia, fuyoh! Kalau siapa yg dok buat Broga loop tu, aku memang tabik spring la. toing toing toing!! Jalan macam ular, dah lak tu, berbukit-bukit! Anyway sampai hulu langat tu, jalan dia not bad jugak la. banyak bukit and still winding. Hmm...bila nak kayuh ke situ ah? Baca lagi!

Raya jugak ye...

Despite tak berkuih raya, people sambut raya jugak la. Raya is raya, no other way about it. Walaupun tak buat kuih raya. Yang ada cuma ketupat daun palas, rendang minang, ketupat nasi with kuah kacang and kek buah. Yang lain sumer kerepek and kacang. Hahaha. Orang laki mana nak buat biskut raya duh. Kalau anda perhatikan, yang perempuan cuma dua. Seorang dah berumur dan tak larat. Yang tinggal sorang lagi hanya buat kuih raya untuk 'hadiah' (or in other words, menunjuk) kat orang kampung dia. So, takde la biskut raya. Beli? Sori la, kalau tak sedap, sampai tahun depan pun tak abis lagi. Gerenti.

Lepas berdrama swasta (mintak ampun satu famili) pagi tu, we all gerak ke Kualo Pilah visiting relatives on my dad's side. I have no datuk or nenek anymore. Just managed to meet with nenek belah bapak. She died 9 years ago. Other than that, nada. And, aku tak penah merasa jadik cucu pun. God bless her soul.

Kat Kolo Pilah, singgah rumah sepupu bapak aku di hilir. And, home made lomang welcomed us. Pergh, yang dinanti-nanti! Lemang KL tak best la, even Pak Ali ke, Pak Abu ke, hapa ke. Kena pulak ngan teh kaw. Adoih. And for the sake of menyental, my mom already booked 2 batang lemang untuk dibawa balik. Hahhaah...gluttony!
There, jumpa la ramai sepupu bapak aku and some sepupu aku. Sepupu aku ni ada yang albino. So cik adik sekalian, takyah la cari saya buat laki, nanti anak kuar jadi putih.

Lepas tu plak, headed on to hulu plak. Yes. Ulu Gachong. To the house where my dad was born. At the gate....

...ada sekor anak kambing tersepit! Hahaha!!!! Puas la mengembek kambing tu mintak tolong. Lama jugak aku tak jejak kaki kat rumah ni. Well, the fact that takde sapa except mak ngah n pak ngah n my albino cousin doesnt make it interesting. But, this is the nearest thing to kampung that I have.
Aku ingat lagi sebelum ada proper plumbing, aku kena mandi kat perigi yang sejuk. Buurrrr!! And kalau tengah malam nak kencing, tak pegi dah kat belakang umah tu. Pakai bukak tingkap, currrrrrr! Golap gilo malam wei! Petang-petang, sibuk main 'orang-orangan' kat bendang. Main tembak senapang buluh. Main sliding kat tangga batu sampai terseliuh tangan. Those were the days.

Malam tu pulak, elektrik tak cukup or not enough voltage. Gila. Sebijik macam zaman sebelum perang (except tv n astro ada pulak!!?). So makan dalam gelap la kitaorang. Cuma diterangi cahaya lilin. Nasib baik tak tido sana. Kalau tak, jenuh mengipas laa..

On the way balik, 'street king' sedang menunggu atas jalan. Bukan mat rempit, tapi LEMBU. Lembu kat sana jadi raja atas jalan. Tido, lepak, berak atas jalan. Sampai kekadang berebut jalan ngan menatang tu. Tapi tu ok lagi. Cuba pegi Jemapoh (where I have some relatives as well), lagi bersepah lembu dia. From Jemapoh to Manchestee. Hehe.

All in all, it was a good way to spend first raya visiting rather than terperuk kat rumah tengok tv. Kalau dulu, tv selalu tunjuk sarkis. Sekarang, sibuk tunjuk Mawi and AF pelancau tu. Kalau korang takde, lagi ramai rakyat Malaysia berziarah tau! Baca lagi!

Maybe the 'year' hasn't ended yet...

Thinking about doing the KL International Triathlon this 13th Nov at Tasik Titiwangsa. Hehe, will be running around the lake, in the city in-- mind you, swimming trunks! Heck what did I just said? Thinking? Yang pegi ride memalam buta tu training pebenda? For sure I will join! So that means, another event, another medal. Like I'm sure if I could finish it.

After the race, I'm contemplating of having a post-race party at Planet Hollywood that night. Yes, Planet beb. Betul. Tarak sombong punya. Baru la rasa macam Kona sikit kan. Btw, ada special event that nite that will sure to tickle you crazy. So sesiapa yang berminat, move your butts Tasik Titiwangsa and Planet Hollywood that day for a blast! At the entrance of Planet, just say you're a friend of mine.

Ajeep dok angau frame Look. Haha. Anyway, the frame is nice looking and heck, its carbon! For 3 grand, I personally think its worth the money. The dropouts seems 'replacable' if broken. More plus points. Then after you have this frame, tak padan la dengan gruppo Sora. Must have Ultegra! Muahaha ==>evil laugh. Why? Because boleh aku dapat Sora dia! Muahaha again. As for me pulak, lepas aku dapat Sora Ajeep, then only I will think about another frame. My Canonndale. Ohh. Kalau tak pun Trek Equinox pun bolehlah. Ceh. Berangan mat jenin. Untuk pengetahuan anda, penulis menaiki basikal besi buatan Slovakia yang berat nak mampus. Sila lawati www.vector-bike.sk . Azwar cakap kalau aku naik basikal ringan mesti laju punya. What did you do last night?

We snuck away, three crazy guys whose lives typically orbit the poles of, something. At about 10, we rendezvous at the usual spot. Though the sky was intermittently blazing with lightning, we cranked away. Wishing that the heavens would wait before showering us.

Almost oblivious to the landmarks, our worlds reduced to the smell of the night's chilly air, the rasp of our breathing, our blinking tail lights.

Almost 2 hours and 40km later, the heavens finally opened up. As we packed our bike, talking about how the ride went, the rain kept on pouring. While the chilly night air bit at our damp skin, we talked the night away.

At 3am, we parted our ways and I just realized, that I clocked an extra day of life. I dont mean to gloat, but I am. Baca lagi!

Got my lazy ass cycling this morning. Went to Melawati and back. And guess who else was exercising. Angah, Grunge's lil sis. Haha. Woi jalan-jalan tak aci la!

Made a mistake by going out at 7. Orang berduyun-duyun drove to work. And to make life harder for me, every inch of the road diorang nak pakai. Come on la, leave some for bike and motorbike to menyelit. But seeing the look on their faces (the drivers) when i zoomed pass them on my bike, was absolutely priceless.

Dark, wet and slippery.

Dont get any ideas. Its our bike ride yesterday night. We, me; Azwar; Ajeep and Julian, went for a long ride at Putrajaya. The heavy rain before did not deter the four of us from doing a 90k ride (I did only 60 of it), although it subsided to a drizzle just before we head off. Supposedly start at 10pm, but thanks to me, we were off at around 10:30.

According to Azwar, its just an easy ride. Yeah, of course it is. But the bump in mileage for me is almost a tad too much to handle. You see, the longest i've ever ridden before was 40k. Now, after a considerably long layoff, 60k seems almost too much. And being a bit busy during the day is not helping at all. Ahh, I'm just whining. Woi! But I managed to do it nevertheless. Semangat Ironman! heheh..

It was, pure fun. The feeling of spinning the pedal on every climb, at night, after rain was simply orgasmic. Ok, I'm maybe strecthing it too far -- but it was good, even there were at times my legs are killing me.

After the ride, I've concluded that I'm not at my best condition, ever. This time last year, I was preparing for Singapore Marathon and I can still do interval runs during the day. This time around, kaput. Bongok. Buduh dush! dush!

I've changed my tube twice today. Gilo. And this is my first time ever changing a bike tube. Tukar tube motor pernah la. And apsal kena tukar tube at the first place? Because I ferociously pumped my tyre till the presta valve bent and broke. Hahaha again. Tu la dia akibat semangat sangat. But thanks to Azwar, Ajeep n Jules for the ride last night. It was such a motivation. Baca lagi!

Kona, Hawaii.

This is the view of Ironman Village in Kona, where hundreds of participants of the 2005 Ironman World Championship will wait for the starting gun approximately 4 days from now. Ironman Hawaii is regarded as the Holy Grail of Ironman, in which Ironman is regarded by some as the mother of endurance sport.

And hell, they're having a blast out there! The picture above, taken during Ironman Parade recently, shows that you can always have fun before tormenting yourself over 10 hours of endurance activity.

As for me, I want to do my Ironman in Kona someday. Kona, its like the Mecca for Ironman. How bad do I want to go there? As much as I want to go to Mecca itself. I will probably compete in Langkawi Ironman 2 years from now. Hey, you gotta start somewhere, rite? You gotta live your life to the fullest. When you've reach a certain point in your life, you'll be asking, "What's next?". So, what is life after Ironman? I dunno. Ask me later. I'm not there yet. I still have a long way to go.

What is Ironman? It's not just a sport which consist of 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42km run. Its a display of courage, determination and passion of mere mortals. I shed some tears watching last year's Ironman. Young; elderly; mothers; fathers; teachers; doctors; those who aren't so lucky that their bike broke; physically challanged people; those doing it for fundraising, crossing the finish line after giving what they've got. These people arent pro's. They're just like you and me. At the beginning of the race, they are recognised by their numbers. But do they want it to stay that way at the end of the day? No, they want to be known as an Ironman.

ps: Azwar, im going to hold on to your words! Baca lagi!

Good morning teacher!

Do you remember the one teacher or lecturer that everytime he(or she, i just malas to type) teaches, everything that came out of his mouth sounds meaningless to you? Or the one that bore you to death everytime he's holding the mic? Well maybe, just maybe these teachers need some refresher course on how to teach.

I once had a lecturer who seemingly talks to himself in front of the crowd. How boring this dude was. I think he still is. And not surprising, my grades for his papers arent that good. Ok la, there are those who made good grades but his effect on his teaching to me is ziltch. Nada. Zero. Lepas kelas dia aku pegi library cari his buku rujukan and read. Thats it. Oh yea, I once confronted him and asked what can I do by learning this? (It was on the subject of media power) I cannot fight the system? And he goes "its not what you can do about the system. OK?" But I still stood there waiting for a definite answer. He doesnt look like giving one. Oi, reach out la brader. Your student is in dire need of knowledge here!! After that, I never asked him another question again.

Anyway, an authoritative figure in education once said that education should not be exam oriented. So memang aku tak kisah sangat. Hahah. But this sort of teachers, they should be given a wake up call la. Jangan ingat nak jadi lecturer so dapat geran buat research and other stuff, balik awal so boleh tengok telenovela kat tv, till teaching becomes secondary. Anak murid ko tidur kat blakang lecture hall mesti ada sebab. Reach out to the masses. The masses are students. Ini tak. Bukak OHP, explain lebih kurang and then ask, "semua faham?" Faham la for about 20 minutes. After that kaput.

I never stop learning. Never want to. To be in the know is very the best. hahah. But the more you know, the more you dont know. Haa. Think bout it. Baca lagi!

Of bargaining and killer traffic.

I noticed that kl-ites like to bargain even for food. What, bargaining for food? Well maybe its odd to me but to them its a norm. But then again, Ive never bargained for food. "Pakcik, nasik goreng tu singgit boleh-lah". adake?
Of coz bargaining is good in business. But bargain la benda lain. Tikar ke. Kereta ke. Kasut ke. Ini makanan. Perluke? Yes i know that prices have gone up the roof but your pay is still the same. But heck, this is what you eat. Be thankful you can have it.

*******

Come bulan posa, people are lining up to get out of their office as early as possible. This is of course for a number of reasons.
  1. trying to get home early.
  2. trying to beat the traffic.
  3. trying to beat the other person who tries to beat the traffic.
  4. they dont like to work.
Oh for gods sake, its a vicious cycle lah! No wonder ramai yang buka posa in the car (possibly by picking their noses, haha!) with a ciggie. Lepas tu marah-marah sebab jam. Oi orang lain pun posa jugak la! And not forgetting our non-muslim frens, even they took the opportunity to cabut awal. So try to avoid being a blardy bastard on the road, ya. And bawak bekal kurma next time. Korek idung is not a nice view la.

*********

Got my dose of stimulants yesterday. Yeah Im on drugs. Got it along ulu klang rd. Yes, i did a bike ride. I went off at about 730am while thinking that not many traffic yet. Rupanya makan asap. Lorries and pesky 2-stroke bikes (i once own a 2-strokey, dual exhaust!) giving me a flavourful of smog. Flavourful cos their 2-stroke oil tend to be fragrant (Shell VSX smells the best!).Nonetheless, it was a slow and easy ride. But people along the couldnt help giving me the look, especially at melawati. Yes its the look "tak puasa ke budak ni?". Biasa la tu, when you dont conform with others, you will be regarded as weird. Aah pegi mampus dengan ko punya look.

Supposedly today i have a ride with Azwar and Ajeep and Jules at putrajaya. But since hujan yang amat best pagi tadi, i decided that tido lagi best la oi! hahah. Korang pegi ke tak tadi? Hopefully lain kali boleh ikut up to 60k. Maklum la, saya naik basikal kicap jek. Baca lagi!

Hyponatermia

Breaking fast yesterday, consists of a shitload of sweet cincau drink and a piece of kuih. Thats it. Too tired to think about food.

Got home, guzzled more water in the form of air tebu which i got half a jug for free, a piece of kuih bantal peluk and some plain water.
I cant remember whats the color of my piss.
No, I'm not suffering from hyponatermia but the idea of having it somehow flashed into my mind. Sort of poisoning yourself from an unpoisonous substance, eh? Stay away them water bottles from me.

This morning, skipped sahur coz too tired (and devestated?) to wake up. So its another endurance test today.

******

I think I'm catatonic lately.
Wow, isnt it good to know that youre about to go crazy, and youre aware of it?

******

A lite n easy bike ride planned for this Sunday. Azwar, Ajeep and some penguins will join. An easy 60k of Putrajaya, according to them. If I were to do a 60k, sure tak posa punya!
Maybe this is just what I need. Maybe I'll join.

What a shock!

Imagine 240V of electric passes thru your body for about two seconds. Scary huh? I just got electrocuted. Now, two burn marks are left at my right pointy finger.
Mujur tak mati.
Lampu punya pasal, I nearly become roast of the day. Guys, if you happen to change lightbulbs, please remember to turn off the switch.
Actually, I would have remembered to turn it off. But the whole lighting setup was shattered to pieces coz of some no good screws that holds it. So jatuh berderai ler. Sebab terkezut lampu hancus, lupa tutup suis.

What a year

I guess this is it. With Powerman behind our backs, I guess the year has ended, at least for me. Wont be going to Singapore this year I think.

Next year, I guess i can focus on few races (especially duathlon) and maybe, just maybe squeeze in a marathon and a triathlon. PD was definitely a great experience.

More running to be done after raya, more fats to be burned of coz. Perhaps new equipments along the way. Hehe..a new multisport jersey would be nice, eh? Siapa nak sponsor suit Quintana Roo sila email saya ye! Baca lagi!

Next month

tak tau apa nak tulis. tak ada apa untuk dibaca. 'Dibaca' bukan 'di baca' kerana 'baca' tidak menunjukkan masa atau tempat.

I will be looking forward to the coming Ramadhan because of two things. One, because its Ramadhan la. Second, because some other important thing. Could be the breakthrough thats needed.

Do you know that you can train your mind to feel happy? Some neuroscientist did a research on a sami buddha to see the level of happiness of a monk. You know la sami buddha, they are filled with compassion and what not. Bukan macam kita ni. Orang potong queue ko dah nak mengamuk. Kena tegur sikit dah melenting. Pukul. Bunuh. Santau. Haih. Neway, looks like those sami buddha wont be needing any prozac if confronted with problems. just, meditate. Omitaufan. or sumthin like that. Maybe I should train my puny brain more often.

On another note, having not exercise regularly for the past God-knows-how-many-weeks, I think i've very low levels of endorphine. too much cortisol is overwhelming my bloodstream. hmm..boleh kena kanser nih. Thats the beauty of exercise. It makes u feel good about urself. Which I dont currently. Baca lagi!

the ethereal me

ok, now im taking a stand. i know what i want and i am going to get it. cant do it the proper way? there's always the ugly way of doing it. persistence. persistence. persistence.
oh yeah, you should never admit defeat before crossing the start line. that is so true sabb. now im putting my money where my mouth is. err, what's that suppose to mean again? damn, this keyboard is suddenly acting up. penat aku menaip.

finding my vocation. hell yeah. i could do this all day long without complainin. heck, who have i to complain to? komplen kat diri sendri la! at least i wont have a bastard breathing down my neck "just to make sure that everything is in place". plus, i got to train. muahahah...that should be further discussed.

huh, 1 am oredi? tido oi! esok keje! hahahahaha!!! Baca lagi!

Dazed and confused

Deep thoughts...deep thoughts.
Must think hard.
Decisions to be made.
Right or wrong? Im not in the know.
Came to the crossings. Its too damn hard.
Dreams and reality. Oil and water dont mix. Damn.

Disconnected? From God, perhaps.
Strayed away for a long time. Need to get back on track.

Funny how things work in life. Seems like everything is intertwined, making knots that seems impossible to untie. Maybe it is possible to untie it, but it could take time. Everytime I bolted out a new move, something will happen to make me confuse. crap. All this is a big piece of crap. A big, muthafakin' piece of crap.

I just wanna live....jeng jeng jeng...
Dont really care about the things that they say
Dont really care about what happens to me
I just wanna live..jeng jeng jeng... (sing in a sissy voice)

Hahaha with words like that you can sell records. Thanks to Good Charlotte.
Oi, where have all the rock bands gone? Ne'ermind.

Crux of the matter, I just wanna live. Arkhhh...
prozac, prozac, prozac. I wanna be at prozac nation. Baca lagi!

The year's most koboi run for me.

Fadzli, Fadhil and me after the run

Its the Putrajaya Half Marathon, last weekend. Without any decent preparations ie. training, food and all, I rocked Putrajaya that morning. Hehe..as if!

I was 5 mins late for the gun-off (thanks to a certain Fadzli, hehe) and had to play catch-up with hoardes of runners in front. This was how it went: we parked the car, ran up a flight of stairs, gave the marshall the registration coupon and ran. Not even time for warm-up! And like I said, I have to play catch-up. Duh, having to catch up with no proper training means killing yourself for the first 3km. I was huffing and puffing. I think I was sucked into catching up them too fast. But soon, the rhythm starts to kick in and I'm kicking ass! Hahaha. No lah, I just overtook some skool kids. And that's, ladies and gents, is my curent form.

So, nothing really interesting though. Got no medal eventho the organisers said there were 400 medals to be grabbed in the 10k category. Yeah, rite. Or maybe I turned sour becoz I didnt get one? Hahah. Sabb and Angah on the other hand, got their medals in their 'special' category. Well done u guys! Hope this will be a stepping stone towards erm..towards a healthier life!

The Great Bike Race

Life is like a great bike race, the goal of which is to live one's own Personal Destiny.
At the starting line, we are all together, sharing camaraderie and enthusiasm. But, as the race develops, the initial joy gives way to challenges: exhaustion, monotony, doubts as to one's ability.

We notice that some friends refuse to accept the challenges -- they are still in the race, but only because they cannot stop in the middle of a road. There are many of them. They ride along with the support car, talk among themselves and complete the task.

We find ourselves outdistancing them; and then we have to confront solitude, the surprises around unfamiliar curves, problems with the bicycle. We wind up asking ourselves if the effort is worth it. Yes, it is worth it. Don't give up. Don't give up Tank! Baca lagi!

Muahahaha. Last year, I was doing gilababi mileage (not so gilababi like marathoners though) tapi takde injury pun. This year, training pun macam kaput, dah ada injury? Gilo apo. If shin splints, then babai la my marathon dreams end of this year. Cycle for 3 months as ganti. Baca lagi!

Oh I am deeply...

Hello world, it's me again. I've been away for a while. Where ive been, even leaves me puzzled. Disconnected. Blearghh. Bored with this boring shit. Let me tell you what happened during Merdeka. Nah, this aint another melancholic, downward-spiral, self-rightous suicidal thing. Its a happy one.

I've decided to hold a party that day. Yeah, u know i just wanted to have something to do that specific day. So why not a bbq to celebrate merdeka? wasnt a bad idea afterall since Amir havent done any housewarming party whatsoever yet. Maka bermula kerja-kerja en tank memasak untuk 10 orang. It looked easy my friends. But it is. hahah. crap.

Long story short, the party was a blast. Capped with a disastrous (to me and Lah) game of Monopoly, its a hell of a time. The highlight, the presentation of a birthday cake. Oh yea its my birthday six days prior. Man! Im deeply touched! Heck it hit me unexpectedly! Hahahahaaaa.. the cake was a fabulouso marshmallow choc cake. A BIG one. And i got an ORIGINAL pc game (Alexander, like the movie) from nana. Aku dengan blurnya ingat dia nak main game that nite. d'oh! Rupanya its for me. That is how unexpected it was.

To all of you, Nana, Ayang, Ubie, Amir, Sabb, Lah, and Eus, thousands of thanks wont do justice to what you've all done. Not forgetting those who wished me a 'happy tua day' including Grunge, Bee, Yan, Shimot, Kett, and Linz.

You guys just light up my day. Baca lagi!

the year that was

25 was the number. Nothing big really happened, really. Let see if its a memorable year:

  • did a half marathon
  • ran a lot more than the previous year, until now
  • changed job, again!
  • nothing
  • did a triathlon, wow!
  • nothing
  • oh i forgot to mention i bought a bike
  • grown a goatee
  • failed a very, very long (try 8 months) job interview
  • made new friends thru sports
  • nothing
  • my cat died
  • my cellphone died
  • went to kuching
  • went to pangkor, twice
  • attended the most wedding, ever
  • flirted with Fahi's sister, haha!
  • Barca won, Liverpool won. Coincidence eh? like I play with them teams..
In retrospect, with lots of nothing and everything, it was a good year indeed. anyway it is not a good thing to not look beyond failures and set an eye for the future undertakings, rite? lets see how 26 goes.

#########

just came back from small celebration hosted by my SIL. can u believe that, hosted by her? well of coz the celebration was NOT just for me, but her sister as well. er exactly not for me at all pun its just that prolly my bro mentioned to her and bla bla bla. Konim (her sis) birthday was the same as mine. erk. well i just joined in for the free meal. haha. u know me la. it was at naili's amp*ang, they had cakes and candles and all. i just had kuew teaw penang (konon). well, its naili's what do you expect? mahal giler woi. and the music selection, urkh, could force my kuew teaw back up my throat.

sigh

how life can be cruel just when you thought you're on top of the world. sigh. when you think you had it all, you realise you are about to lose it all. yeah, nothing is forever in this world, you might say. but pain lives. and it teaches you big time.
to my friend, S, life is a continuous learning process. what matters is the journey. because we already know where we're heading. six feet under. haha.

#####

havent been training properly since last monday. no need training la for me. genetic anomaly. i wish. i bet im going to suffer if i partake putrajaya half. sure die wan. i think i'll go for 10k. then do half marathon at pj. makes no difference i think. they're just one week apart. and with my current fitness level (which is just a bit better than a smoking bitch), i dont think its gonna do me good. oh well. i did ran the half marathon last year at singapore without any proper mileage, didnt i?
now its time for subuh, and some running. Baca lagi!

The Mirror Men Hath Cometh

City. Clinique. Diet. Gym. Designer wear. Male. All of those words, when associated, conjures up the image of a new breed of men called the metrosexuals. This new term, which came to life around early 90's, according to Oxford Dictionary of Modern Slang, means a heterosexual male whose attention to his appearance likened to that of a homosexual.

According to Marian Salzman from the ad agency Euro RCSG Worldwide, who identified the famous Beckham--who likes to say how comfortable he with his feminine side --as the epitome of 'metrosexuality', which is the characteristic of a heterosexual man who spend time and money on their appearance and enjoy shopping. (Time, 30 June 2003)

So does that means metrosexuals are gay?

Since sexuality is being brought up, it is important to clear up any misintepretation on the subject. A metrosexual (not by Oxford's definition), doesnt necessary have to be straight. He can be officially gay or bisexual but this is utterly immaterial because he has taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preferance. In short, he is so in love with himself that he sometimes forget to "introduce his wiener to the little man in the boat".

But the fact that a lot of prominent figures in the world like Becks and Ian Thorpe claim themselves to be metro or 'a lil bit different', the gay community do indentify with them. In an interview with Brit gay mag, Becks admits that he's gay. Not! He admits that he's happy to be a gay icon; he likes to be admired, whether the admiring is done by men or women. Oh, that is so Becks. Yup, his 'appearance' is another good feature of him apart from his right foot.

Metros considerably take more interest in their appearance. They go to to hairdressers instead of 'kedai gunting Ravi', avoid using soap because it's too harsh on their skin, and even finding it hard to decide on what to wear. Not to mention they spend more time in front of the mirror. Because taking care of your appearances means making sure about a hundred times that your hair is in the right place and your face receives the benefits of advances in cosmetic technologies. Now this is interesting.

Is metrosexual the product of fashion industry?

Many, many years ago, what we can find off the rack is clothes. Now, it is called fashion. Simply because Becks, Thorpe and Hugh Jackman are more and more interested in fashion and they send out a message that by doing so, you are not going to look like a fairy. Thus, more and more fashion line came out of the woodwork. Colours, never worn before by men, like salmon pink, has become a norm.

But these fashion boom doesnt come for nothing. Becks, for example, is a staple for newspapers, magazines, billboards and TV ads, and any other possible ad media you could think of. He is said to reap around $70 million for his endorsement of Gillet*te. Gillet*te, however, denied the allegation and specific financial details were kept undisclosed. April this year, Gillet*te announce that its first-quarter profits rose to 43%, the biggest increse in more than a year. Now isn't this amazing? Now all of you EPL junkie, I bet you still remember the Cast*rol ad where Becks had his upper chest opened like a fuel tank cap, and poured lubricants into himself while playing football? Even ridiculous ads like that would boost up sales, just because Becks endorse it.

Why is this metro thingy happening?

Well, presumably straight, macho men are changing because women damand their partners to take greater effort with their appearance. It is expected of men to have a certain kind of look that pleases women of today. It is expected that men too, like women, must have a certain standard of appearance set by the second person. It all happens because of the rule of conformity that applies here. One, will deemed as 'not normal' if he doesnt conform with others. The space for individuality is lessening here.

The workplace itself has changed for many men too. As the proportion of white-collar workers grow, so does the need to look good. Pleasing the eyes of others is important here. To compete in today's work environment, you must dress well, have your hair neatly and take care of your body (nails).

So are we going to see the demise of metrosexuality soon? I dont think so. With the trend going on in Malaysia (KL especially), we will be seeing more and more men with clutches roaming around. They will be everywhere. And soon enough, there will be competition between the 'real' metrosexual and the wannabes. Then, maybe we will see its demise.

You daft prick!

For two consecutive days, yours truly pulled on a very much hyporcrite face while trying not to offend the pricks who fixed his car.

What I need was a good fixing of my car. Not some frankenstein project (which, in fact I have already done!) so that you pricks could proudly claim the car was 'done by you'. Simple. Fix 'A' which is broken. But why on heavens name, you try to mend 'B'?

Note to self: never trust a workshop with only two workers.

Now my supercar is like cough here, cough there. Prolly because one of the mechs left a finger inside my engine kut.

Nonetheless, they did manage to 'enhance' the make-up of my car. Hehehe... no more 'tiang gol' up front. A more subtle look. But still, I have one more problem at hand. I need to find the input for the oxygen sensor to the ECU. Arkhhhh!! Tough shit!

And, I missed 2 days worth of running. Darn. I feel fat. Baca lagi!

Money, money, money!

Shopaholic, rejoice for the Malaysian Mega sale is on! Sale here, sale there. Let the rich be richer and the poor be poorer. Why? Because the rich always the stingy one, and the poor always think they had a lot of money to spend and they do. OK, not poor la but common people. Like you and..other people. Not me. I'm uncategorised. hehe..

It's true that most rich bloke (or makcik) will bargain for whatever they buy, whenever they can.Of course you cant bargain at Coach, but hoardes of them will be at some Melium outlet sale where the whole decimal point for the price of a designer brand will be cut!

But then...

The oil price rose again! 10 cent per litre. Adoih. So Malaysians, I have a brilliant idea. Why dont we all buy a bicicleta (bicycle) and ride to work? Its money saving, good workout, will reduce global warming and bla bla bla! Heh...if only its a perfect world. Baca lagi!
